Thank you for purchasing the Yamaha MONTAGE M Series, Music Synthesizer.

This Readme file contains important information about the MONTAGE M6 / MONTAGE M7 / MONTAGE M8x V3.01 Operating System update and the updating process. 
Please read this document carefully before updating your MONTAGE M synthesizer.


NOTICE:
- This updater is only for the MONTAGE M synthesizer.
- This updater is to be used at the user's own risk.
- All User memory (Library data, User data, User sample and so on) will be initialized by this updater. Please make sure that you have saved all User data to a USB flash drive before performing this update. 
- The unit may become inoperable if the electrical supply is interrupted while running the updater (by disconnecting the AC cord, etc.). If this happens, run the updater again from the first step. 
- If the unit does not function after running the updater, please contact your nearest Yamaha service center.

This update is applicable to the following version: 
MONTAGE M6 / MONTAGE M7 / MONTAGE M8x with firmware versions earlier than V3.01


How to check the version of your MONTAGE M

1. Press the [UTILITY] button to open the Utility display.
2. Touch [Settings] tab -> [System] tab at the left side of the display.
3. The following message appears at the bottom of the display:

The unit's version is indicated by "MONTAGE M Firmware Version : *.**.*"
Only the numbers up to the two decimal places after the first dot are important in reading the version number, you can ignore the numbers after the second dot. 
Ex.) 1.02.0 = 1.02 ,  1.10.2 = 1.10


Updating Procedure

  NOTICE: 
     All User memory (Library data, User data, User sample and so on) will be initialized by this updater. 
     Please make sure that you save all User data to a USB flash drive before performing this update. 

  Required Items
   - One USB flash drive of over 8GB capacity formatted on the MONTAGE M 

1. After downloading, copy the following uncompressed files to a USB flash drive that has been formatted on the MONTAGE M. No other files should be present on the USB flash drive.

2. Power off the MONTAGE M.

3. Connect only the USB flash drive prepared in step 1 to the [USB TO DEVICE] terminal of the MONTAGE M. Power on the MONTAGE M while holding down the [Cursor UP] and [UTILITY] buttons until the "YAMAHA" logo appears on screen.
   At this time, please do not press buttons other than [Cursor UP] or [UTILITY] buttons.

4. The MONTAGE M OS updater will begin with the message "Waiting for USB storage ..." and "MONTAGE M6/7/8x updater *.**.*".
When the message "Update completed." appears, turn off the MONTAGE M and remove the USB flash drive.

WARNING: 
DO NOT power off or remove the USB flash drive from the MONTAGE M until the "Update completed." message appears. If power is accidentally interrupted while running the updater (by disconnecting the AC cord, etc.), the unit may become inoperable. If this happens, run the updater again. If the unit still does not function after doing this, please contact your nearest Yamaha service center.

5. Power on the MONTAGE M.

6. Execute the "Initialize All Data" function ([UTILITY] > [Settings] > [System]).

This completes the update process.

- Dry Level has been added to the Effect Routing screen.
- You can now select a Page on the Utility Contents screen by using a Display knob.

< V2.00 to V2.01 >
Fixed problems;
- Fixed a problem in which the instrument would freeze during subsequent keyboard playing after keys were released while the generated sound was being delayed if the Key On Delay Time Length or Key On Delay Note Length was set to a value other than 0 for an AWM2 part. 
- Fixed other minor problems.

< V1.22 to V2.00 >
New features;
- A new effect type (Shimmer Reverb) has been added.
- New waveforms (New CFX and CP80) and Performances have been added.
- Wave Folder has been added to AN-X Parts.
- The AN-X Smart Morph function has been added.
- Now supports the MIDI 2.0 Protocols.
- Improvements have been made to the user interface.

- Fixed a problem in which some Performance information is not loaded properly when loading the following model files.

- You can now see the parameter values when operating the knobs while a graph is displayed on the Sub display.
- You can now make partial changes to the font size on the Live Set screen and the Category Search screen.
